Thoughts on Magic

I was reading another blog this afternoon and it got me thinking. It was about why Santa may be the longest running unfunny joke in the world. The author (as he pointed out) wasn't being serious but he got me looking at stuff in my slightly off center way. I gave him a huge answer about it, which had little or nothing to do with his blog. Sorry about that.
But what I started thinking about is there is precious little magic left in this world. More and more as the years go on there seems to be less and less to believe in. As I grow older all the things that were once consdered possible have turned out to be false. Santa, Easter bunny, Tooth Fairy, ect., all have been show as lies by adults to children. Then there are questionable things that some people believe in like Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Yeti, UFO's, ect. There are also things that many believe in with no real proof to back them up like God, Satan, ghosts, ect. Yet without these things we are left alone in this world with no magic. Our imagination clings to the idea that there is more to this world than what we see in our daily lives. Without that hope then this world seems dark and dull. If science has answered it all then there is nothing left to see.
We are slowly killing all the wonder and hope. What will we do once it's gone?

Two things here Jeff...

1) When I first read the title I thought this post would be about Magic: The Gathering HA!

2) Magic is alive and well and I'll tell you why... Look around at the general public sometime and see how many people there are with "elf" ears... More people in the spotlight have them as well... The elves are coming... I'm serious... I've noticed... It's strange... But true...

Religion is the biggest running Joke. Millions adult still believe in a creator. Who is going to let them know?

Santa doesn’t exist, God doesn’t exist, it is the human faith/hope that keeps the spirit alive. It will never stop. You are just looking in the wrong places. It’s Everywhere. It will continue to be everywhere!! It’s Wonderful!!

If you the individual believe then it’s true.
Now go drink so egg nog

There is precious little magic left compared to what there should be. But Ive seen different types including the magic of spirits.

My best friends daughter always played in her room with her dad... loved her daddys red hair and talked to him often. Knew exactly what he looked like. The magic in it was that her dad died of cancer at age 23, 4 hours after her 1st birthday, because he promised his new daugther the moment he found out he had cancer, he would live to see her 1st birthday. He did. There is some magic for ya. We all have it.
Some people choose to put their faith in a single entity, some choose to worship a fistful of Gods. Nonetheless, it will never be gone as long as there are people who pay attention to it. When it appears to bless or even curse. Share the magic, regardless of its origin or meaning. Pay close attention to the difference in share and shove. The lack of attention to that detail has caused every war or mass genocide in all of recorded history.

Oh, and I have elf ears. Everyone says it. Now I have to go find a pic of the ears somewhere.

Magic evolves. What about technology gremlins? Phone-sentience (I just KNEW you were calling)? Stop light charms and worshiping the parking gods for on-street spaces?

As I get older, I find more magic in my life, not less. I just tend to question it more.

Babushka,
The magic, or spirt, what ever you like to call it is always there. It never leaves, it is just up to us to see it, and to look for it in the simplest of ways. I never quite understood why so many people have trouble seeing it, I see it every time I step outside, maybe I am just the crazy one. Science can't explain it all, even docotors will admit to that. I don't know, I might be crazy, but I love my life as such.
